यज्ञ का अर्थ
यज्ञ शब्द के कई अर्थ हैं ।
इन्द्रादि देवों के पूजन तथा सत्कार को यज्ञ कहते हैं। यज्ञ में देवताओं की पूजा की जाती है। भगवान विष्णु का एक नाम यज्ञ है।
यज्ञ द्वारा धर्म, देश, वर्णाश्रम व्यवस्था की रक्षा होती है।
यज्ञ में विद्वान और महापुरुष एक स्थान पर एकत्रित होकर विस्व कल्याण के लिए अनुष्ठान करते हैं। यज्ञ में मंत्रोच्चार के साथ अग्नि में देवताओं के लिए श्रेष्ठ द्रव्यों की अहुतियां दी जाती हैं। जिस अनुष्ठान में देवता, हवनीय द्रव्य, मंत्र, पुरोहित और दक्षिणा, ये पांचों रहते हैं, उसे यज्ञ कहते हैं।
यज्ञ से देवता प्रसन्न होकर समय पर वृष्टि आदि अनुग्रह प्रदान करते हैं। यज्ञ द्वारा यजमान को स्वर्ग की प्रप्ति होती है।

What does suta stand for?
Suta is the name of a mixed-varna caste in which the mother is a Brahmin and the father is a Kshatriya. Due to a defect at the Suti (सूतिः) where soma juice is extracted during king Prithu's yajna, varna-sankara resulted. Charioteers are also called Sutas.
What is arghya?
Arghya is a ceremonious offering given in puja to show respect at the time of receiving God. It is a mix of several dravyas. One such combination is - sandal paste, milk, water, flowers, akshata, tips of kusha grass, yava, and tila.
