Lord Shiva relieves Valmiki from curse

Lord Shiva relieves Valmiki from curse

You must know that before becoming a sage, Valmiki was a hunter.

But did you know that Valmiki was cursed to become a hunter.

Valmiki’s ashrama was on the banks of Tamasa river.

Once he got into a debate with some munis who were worshipers of Agni.

They got annoyed with Valmiki and cursed him.

This is how he became a hunter.

Then he took refuge in Lord Shiva.

After many years of worshiping of Shiva, Valmiki got relief from the curse.

At that time, Bhagavan told him - Go ahead and write about the life of my great devotee. You will become world famous.

This is described in the Anushasana Parva of Mahabharata.

Lessons:

  1. Valmiki’s worship of Lord Shiva shows the importance of seeking refuge in God to overcome difficulties.
  2. No matter one’s present state, relief is possible through divine intervention.
  3. Divine guidance can lead us to greatness.
  4. With the help of God, we all have the potential to overcome adversity.
  5. Divine guidance gives us purpose in life.
