Why did Shiva cut Brahma's head?
It was at the beginning of the creation.
Brahma slept for 4.32 billion years and woke up.
He first created Sanaka, Sanadana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara.
Brahma asked them to create the world.
But they wanted to stay as yogis and went away.
Brahma became angry and from his forehead, Rudra came out.
Rudra became the Lord of elimination.
Then Brahma created 10 sons such as Marichi and Atri from his mind.
They were entrusted the task of creation and were called the Prajapatis or progenitors.
Then Saraswathy came out of Brahma’s mouth.
Brahma was enchanted by her beauty and wanted to make her his consort.
The Prajapatis objected saying that it was sinful.
Brahma kept looking at Saraswathy with the eyes on his four heads as she kept moving about.
The Prajapatis blocked his view.
A fifth head came up from the top and he started looking at Saraswathy with the eyes on it.
That’s when Shiva plucked that head.
But the sin of Brahmahatya stuck to Shiva’s hand in the form of a skull and he had to roam around for a long time with that.
Finally, Sriman Narayana gave him relief from that and the skull fell off at Brahma Kapala in the Himalayas.
