K srinivasan Envy is as you mentioned desire for qualities or possessions either materialistic or fame power status on not having the same leads to sleepless nights, and loss of inner space. Where as jealousy is as per your thinking fear of loosing our possession to others. Because of these two we loose spiritual advancement. My interpretation is slightly different Envy and jealousy can be kept at bay. Provided we learn from the Game of Chess. Chess has different coins and power's And they dont act on their own. They are moved by the player who decides what to do. Similarly in one's life all humans who are like chess coins varry in power wealth status but all these things are in carved by God. They are like coins.and only God the almighty like chess player moves them. If this is understood we can be away from envy and jealousy. -User_sple3w
