Finding the right Guru is essential for spiritual growth. A Guru guides you towards wisdom and truth. But attracting the right Guru requires effort from you too. There are three key factors that draw the Guru’s grace towards you.
The first step is having pure intentions. Your thoughts must be focused on good actions and a desire for spiritual progress. When your heart is pure, you naturally attract the right people, including a Guru, who can guide you. Without pure intentions, your path may become difficult. So, always aim to cleanse your thoughts and actions, aligning them with higher goals.
You must surround yourself with good connections. Being in the company of positive people helps create an environment that nurtures spiritual growth. These connections bring you closer to spiritual opportunities. It’s like planting a seed in fertile soil. Good connections also mean attending places where spirituality is practiced. This may be temples, satsangs, gatherings, or even good social media forums where the divine is celebrated.
Once your intentions are pure and your surroundings support you, you must develop strong determination. This means having a firm resolve to follow the spiritual path. A wavering mind cannot progress, and the Guru will be drawn to those who are steady in their faith and commitment. Spiritual growth requires effort and discipline, and only with firm resolve will you reach the Guru’s grace.
When these three factors are present in your life, they manifest as the Guru’s power. This power is not just the physical presence of the Guru but also his/her spiritual influence. It enters your body and mind, helping you grow at a deep level. This happens because you have become ready to receive the Guru’s teachings.
In simple terms, when you create the right conditions within and around you, the Guru will naturally be drawn towards you. So, focus on purity of thought, good connections, and firm resolve to attract the Guru who will guide you on your spiritual journey.
At Rameshwaram, many holy teerthas are available at one place. Even though it is not compulsory to take bath in them, pilgrims should make it a point not to miss this opportunity.
Generally, people and many sages suggest that 'the chanting of Lord Hanuman's name and the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa should not be done before 3 hrs 45 mins after sunrise.' Is this true? Some people say that Hanuman Ji stays awake at night, so in the morning, he is 'asleep' or busy serving Lord Rama; hence, the time before 3 hrs 45 mins after sunrise is prohibited. But there is no evidence for this. It also does not seem correct that Yogiraj, the foremost among the wise, Lord Hanuman, remains asleep for such a time in the morning or that his divine body and power are so limited that he cannot serve his devotees in other forms while being busy serving Lord Rama in one form. Wherever there is chanting of Lord Rama’s name with love and the recitation of the Ramayana, Lord Hanuman is always present, whether it is morning or any other time. If we accept this argument, we will have to refrain from chanting God’s name until 3 hrs 45 mins after sunrise for the sake of Lord Hanuman’s rest. Therefore, devotees should never refrain from chanting Lord Hanuman's name or reciting the Hanuman Chalisa at any time. Morning time is excellent for worship. Lord Hanuman is always and at all times worthy of veneration. The doha of Sunderkand (Prata naam jo leyi hamara) was spoken by Hanuman Ji. When Hanuman Ji goes to Lanka and meets Vibhishana, Vibhishana says that he is a demon. Vibhishana considers his body to be lowly and himself to be unfortunate. Hanuman feels that Vibhishana has developed an inferiority complex due to his demonic form. To console Vibhishana, Hanuman Ji says that even he (Hanuman Ji) is not noble and if someone takes his name in the morning (he being a monkey), they will not get food for the entire day. Note that Hanuman Ji said this only to console Vibhishana. In reality, there is no truth to the notion that seeing Hanuman would prevent anyone from getting food. Hanuman Ji is our protector from troubles.
