Our ancient texts contain words of wisdom which are very much relevant today. This is based on the Hitopadesha proverb : 'To someone whose family and background are unknown, you should not give shelter.'
In the city of Bengaluru, there was a prominent corporation called Banyan Tree Solutions. Within this company, under the leadership of a seasoned manager, Mr. Dev, there was a harmonious and productive team. Among them was Mr. Suresh, the astute analyst known for his wisdom and insight. They had worked together for years, forming a strong and reliable partnership.

One day, a new employee named Mr. Jayesh joined the company. Observing Mr. Dev’s influential position and success, Mr. Jayesh thought to himself, 'How wonderful it would be to exploit his status for my gain.' Deciding to befriend Mr. Dev to get closer to his resources, Mr. Jayesh approached him after the meeting.

'Good day, Mr. Dev! I’m Jayesh, new to the company and the city. I have no friends or family here and feel quite lost,' he said with a friendly smile. 'It would be wonderful to have a mentor and friend like you.'

Mr. Dev, being kind-hearted, replied, 'Welcome, Jayesh. It's always good to have new colleagues. Let’s catch up after work.'

That evening, Mr. Jayesh joined Mr. Dev and Mr. Suresh at their regular post-work hangout. Upon seeing the new face, Mr. Suresh asked, 'Who is this new colleague?' Mr. Dev introduced Mr. Jayesh, explaining how he seemed eager to make friends and fit in.

Mr. Suresh, however, was cautious. 'It’s great to make new friends, Dev, but we must be careful. Trust shouldn’t be given freely to someone whose intentions and background we don’t know well,' he advised. 'In our corporate world, it’s essential to understand who we are dealing with.'

Mr. Dev, recognizing Mr. Suresh’s wisdom, replied, 'You’re right, Suresh. It’s prudent to be cautious.'

Over time, Mr. Jayesh realized that earning the trust of Mr. Dev and Mr. Suresh required genuine effort and integrity. He could no longer think of deceit, knowing that such actions would not only be futile but also detrimental to his own career growth.

Through this story, we learn that in a corporate environment, it’s crucial to be wary of deceitful individuals, value and protect true professional relationships, and use wisdom to navigate potential challenges. True success is built on trust, mutual respect, and integrity.
