Creation of Death

At the time of creation, Brahama had not imagined that the world would soon overcowd with living beings. When he saw the condition of the world, Brahma got worried and sent Agni to burn everything down. Lord Shiva intervened and suggested a systematic way to keep population under control. That's when Brahma created death and Mrityu Devata to carry it out. Death is a mystery and coping with the death of a near and dear one is a challenge. Knowing that even the gods had to find solutions for overpopulation and death can make death less daunting and more understandable.

How many slokas are there in the longest version of the Mahabharata?

The longest version of Mahabharata has got 60 lacs of slokas in it. Out of these 30 lacs have been released only in Swargaloka, 15 lacs in Pituloka, and 14 lacs in Gandharvaloka. Only a lac of slokas has been released on earth. (Adi Parva.1.105-107)
