There is something very unique and interesting about the worship of Devi. Whether it is for Lakshmi, Saraswathy, Durga, Kali, Sri Vidya, or whichever form, there is one condition. Then only this happens: you have to worship her without having any desire in the mind.
Even if you are saying 'Roopam Dehi,' 'Jayam Dehi,' you should not be thinking seriously about it. Even if you are chanting a stotra, say Kanaka Dhara Stotra, you should not be seriously thinking about it, about getting wealth. You are saying these stotras because you don’t know anything else. This is called Nishkama Upasana, worship without any particular desire.

You should think about her constantly without desiring anything from her. Chant whichever mantra you know, whichever stotra you know, as much as you can. Not that you have to chant 1,000 times or 10,000 times every day—as much as you can. Then:
Saiva... She by herself would take care of all your worldly requirements, all your troubles, all your problems, if at all you have any. She will also give you the ultimate goal, the ultimate destination—mukti, moksha. You don’t even have to ask for any of these. She will do it on her own.
This is very unique about Devi Upasana. But the first condition is very important. You should not ask for anything. Otherwise, it will go in a different direction. You ask for one ton of gold. She may give it to you. But then you may find the police or the income tax officers at your doorstep the next day. You got what you asked for. You didn’t say that it should be safe also. If you don’t know how to ask, then don’t ask. She is the mother. She is more concerned about you than you yourself. She knows what all you need.
Sada... Not only this, if you worship her without desiring anything, without asking for anything, she will always be with you, telling you everything, giving you every knowledge, guiding you at every step.
Vatsalya... Haven’t you seen this? A cow always follows its calf in complete affection, making sure that it is safe at every step. Mother Goddess will also be like that. If you become as innocent as that calf, as simple as that calf, she will also never leave your side.
Same gotra marriage is discouraged in Dharma shastra.
In the Vedic age, the Aryans considered Indra as the king of Devas. But the Vedas depict Varuna also as equal in power to Indra. A group of Aryans under Zaratustra became rebellious and started worshiping Varuna as the supreme power. They created their own four Vedas and a script called Kharoshti which was written from right to left. In their yajnas, Varuna was given offerings as the chief of Devas. This group of Aryans who settled to the west of the Indus river were known as Asuras. They were always in conflict with Devas and their followers. Subsequently, all enemies of Devas became known as Asuras. This term now represents Daityas, Danavas, and Rakshasas also.
