The wise sages, endowed with great intelligence and sincerity, approach Indra, the king of gods, with devotion. They earnestly pray for the removal of darkness and ignorance, asking for the blessing of clear vision and wisdom. Just as one seeks release from physical captivity, they seek liberation from the bonds of ignorance.

चन्द्रमा मनसो जातः । चक्षोः सूर्यो अजायत ।

मुखादिन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च । प्राणाद्वायुरजायत ॥

From the mouth arose Indra, the king of gods, and Agni, the fire god, while from the breath arose Vayu, the wind god, highlighting the origin of essential life forces from the divine.

What does Veda say about periods?

As per Krishna Yajurveda Kanda 2. Prashna 2. Anuvaka 2, women accepted part of Indra's brahmahatya dosha in return for permission for physical relationship only for pleasure.
