Is it compulsory to take bath in Rameshwaram?

At Rameshwaram, many holy teerthas are available at one place. Even though it is not compulsory to take bath in them, pilgrims should make it a point not to miss this opportunity.

Before giving testimony in courts, one has to take an oath by holy books such as the Bhagavad Gita. In ancient courts of law, a similar system existed. Kshatriyas had to swear by their weapon, Vaishyas had to swear by their wealth, and Shudras had to swear by their actions. However, Brahmins were not required to take any such oath. This was because the custodians of the Vedas were never expected to speak untruth. Society had such high expectations of them. But if ever found lying, they were subjected to more severe punishment than others.
